What You Should Know About Long-Term Care

Long-term care is the type of care you may need when you can no longer live independently.  For example, you may need some help getting dressed, bathing or getting going in the morning.

The average Californian can expect to live 20-30 years more after retirement.  It's nice to know that, after so many years of laboring at a workplace, we'll have the time to enjoy and pursue our hobbies and interests.  But the major concern these days is whether we will be able to afford this lengthy retirement.  You should ask yourself:

  • What would my family do today if I needed some type of long-term care?

  • Would they be able to care for me at home?

  • Would they need help?

  • What if I needed assistance with the activities of my daily life?

  • What if I needed skilled nursing care?

  • How would we pay for all of this?

In order to ensure your future, you must become knowledgeable today.  Most people don't begin until it's too late.  The simple truth is, the closer you are to retirement, the greater your risk and need.

These pages will help you learn what you should know about long-term care for your own future benefit, and for the benefit of your family:
