Veteran Burbank residents tell of traveling up Hollywood Way once upon a time and seeing all the way to the mountains in every direction over flat land. But Burbank built up during the 1900’s, and the Cahuenga Pass and Olive Avenue grew into modern avenues of transit, bringing more people to Burbank. The Burbank of today has answered with blended services, commerce, and residential and shopping areas.

Today’s McNeil neighborhood encompasses much of what Burbankans consider “South” Burbank. Inclusive of Verdugo Park, Whitnall Park South, Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. Robert Stevenson Elementary School, and the McNeil neighborhood feed into Luther Burbank Junior High School, Providence High School (“Providencia”), St.Finbar Catholic Day School, and John Burroughs High School.

The McNeil neighborhood is a small subtract of the larger Magnolia Park or Chandler Park neighborhoods. But this highly important sector of Burbank is filled with critical commerce vectors that make Burbank a world-famous name in entertainment and tourism. The Riverside Drive shops in the South and the Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is a hub for medical offices and healthcare facility buildings.

The nearby 101 Freeway also feeds into Southeastern Burbank. This area at the South borders into Toluca Lake. Heading West on Riverside Drive, the McNeil neighborhood border terminates at Hollywood Way. Heading North on Hollywood Way, the McNeil neighborhood includes the running studio area neighborhood of NBC and other entertainment industry offices. Warner Brothers has several back lots working in the area. The east end of McNeil has enjoyed phenomenal growth and development within the last few decades especially.
